Brian's parents are atheists, and apparently didn't feel like teaching mythology to their sons, so Brian has picked up some interesting misconceptions about religion.  While rewatching the "Sports Night" where they have the Sedar, he asked if the average person knows what a Sedar is.

"I take it you don't?" I asked.

"I figured it out from context," he said.  I told him that I thought it was pretty common knowledge, since Christianity is an offshoot of Judaism and all.

"It's spelled S A T Y R, right?" he asked.

"Nooo . . ." I said.  "Those are the mythological creatures that are goat on the bottom and human on the top.  They don't have any of those in the Bible."

"They don't?" he said, surprised.  "I thought there was part of it that had goat people."  The conversation continued from there, amusing me greatly throughout.

Maybe someday I'll write an "Everything you need to know about Judeo-Christian Mythology" book, so that people like Brian won't have to wait until they're dating an ex-Christian to understand all the references in Sports Night, Futurama, The Simpsons, . . .
